I have just spent the last week of my life at "jesus camp" and let me tell you one thing, it has changed my life for the better. I went into the week hating everyone and everything that had to do with God because I couldn't understand why he was putting me through such pain and suffering. I thought of myself as a christan. i would pray when necessary and go to church. so i couldn't wrap my head around why he was doing this to me. the very first thing the speaker, Cory, said was " God has a plan for me, and his plan is good" and i honestly don't think I have ever felt so relieved in my enitre life.
Finally all my questions would be answered. In life we will forever have more question then answers. God tests us to make sure we don't take the easy way out because we feel a pressure to perform for him. when in relaity, you CANNOT preform enough for him. All we need is a relationship with him, we need salvation. We have to allow him to change our lives everyday. God is a God of transformation not destination. He is forever working in us to make us better. When we allow him to work in us and change us we become a "mirror" of his glory in which we need to share with those who have not seen his glory. We can change the world with his endless glory.
We talked a lot about love, and how it has lost all meaning to say "i love you". We love pizza and cats and actors. Love is tied to feelings when it should be an action. An action to prove that you want to stay with that person for as long as possible. God loves us no matter what we do, his love is never ending and you can never use all of his love up. We sometimes try to hide pieces of ourselves from God but that doesn't work because he sees all of us and still loves us and wants to be in our lives. He is our "something more."We need to face all the hurt in our lives and put it behind us and move on with our lives.
God keeps his promises. He created man in his image and in the beginning before sin entered the world. Adam and Eve walked with God in a garden. They could do whatver they wanted but eat from one tree. One day the devil came and spoke to Eve and created doubt in her mind about God's love so she and Adam ate from the tree and that was when sin entered the world and made us sperate from God. God wants us to be him in this world. We must carry him with us everywhere we go and project his love to others. There are people who have never heard of Jesus or of Gods' love. In our lives God will call us to do things we don't want to do but we do them anyway and we will have results that were never expected.
In this life we lack two things:
Courage and Compassion.
We lack courage because we can see that one person who always sits alone or is made fun of but we don't have the courage to do something about it. We could walk right up to then and show them that someone out there cares but we are too obessed with popularityand what others would think that we don't. We lack compassion because we don't care about anyone but ourselves. We would rather make sure that we are popular then care about those who aren't because as long as we are "okay" everyone else is "okay." Personally I lack courage, i'm all talk I say how I will change, and walk over and talk and sit next to that person eating all alone when in reality I don't. I say I will but there is no follow through.
God puts us through those test I was talking about us to teach us so that when it happenes to another human being we can help them through it, we can tell them that yes, it's painful and hard and it won't be easy but it will get better. I know, cliche right? But it does get better. God has a plan for me, and his plan is good.
